Local Outreach Efforts

As a community church, our aim is to support efforts near our church and in the Albuquerque community. Local outreach is done through monetary giving and hands-on projects. Below you will read about some of our efforts to serve those in need close to home.

Our church has been a partner with Chelwood Elementary for many years. We have several projects with Chelwood. One is the annual school supply drive to help families unable to afford all the supplies for their children for the school year. This support will continue beyond the first of the year if the school notifies us that particular supplies are needed. Another project is working with the school counselor in identifying families at Thanksgiving that struggle to purchase food. We supply families with items to supplement their dinner.  Also, we have a giving tree at Christmas with requests from children at Chelwood.

Our church provides a donation box for the Storehouse. A Storehouse representative will come weekly to pick up donations from church members who know their donated items can help families in need.

We hold an annual blood drive at the church. United Blood Services is always in need of blood donation. This is our way of supporting families when blood transfusions are needed for survival.

We conduct an annual water bottle drive late in the spring to collect water for homeless individuals and families in Albuquerque. The summer months get very hot for those on the streets with no where to go. We collect hundreds of bottles that are given to the rescue mission to be distributed throughout the summer to give the basic need of water to those with no place to go.

The city of Albuquerque hosts an annual CROP Walk supported by Church World Service to aid with hunger relief. Our church each year has walkers that support this cause as well as members who support the walkers with pledges. A portion of all the money that is collected goes to support local hunger relief here in the greater Albuquerque area.

Our annual operating budget supports the following organizations in the Albuquerque area: Habitat for Humanity, New Mexico Conference of Churches, Samaritan Counseling Center, and the Storehouse. Other special offerings have supported Cuidando Los Ninos and the Albuquerque Rescue Mission.
